Mark and Robert Burrows, Dave Rolfe, Jay Hirst and I were on site last Sunday. Mark and Robert barred the power unit intended for 50030 round again, then did more scraping and cleaning below where the exhauster and motor blower sit at No.2 end. Dave continued working on cleaning and painting various sections of pipework. Jay and I had retrieved from store what sections of electrical conduit survived for the brake frame. Some parts had broken and some were missing altogether. I knew from photos I'd taken of complete 50s what should be there, and fortunately we had acquired two boxes of Imperial conduits fittings some time ago, so we were able to piece together something that resembles what was originally there. The original feeder conduit that comes up from the bottom of the electrical cubicle had been broken off before we purchased the locomotives, and the wiring severed. I purchased an aluminium connection box which was bolted to the brake frame, and got new 25mm conduit bends to attach to part of the original conduit that rather surprisingly had a metric thread. It was all loosely pieced together to make sure we had what was needed, then all dismantled so it could be cleaned and primed.
