Dave Rolfe, Mark Burrows, Jay Hirst, new member Richard Wade and I were on site today. In a welcome development Dom Jackson also joined us for his first work party in quite some time! Richard is an electrician by trade, and helped Jay and I solve the wiring issue with the tail lights in the No.2 cab of 50030. Both tail light units have been removed to replace the old and very dirty brass lampholders. We then belled out and marked the cables under the floor that go to the load-limiting potentiometer that sits under the pedestal in front of the auxiliary generator. Dave has reinstated the conduit at the back of the brake frame that holds the cable from the axle-mounted speedometer up to the speedo unit on top of the electrical cubicle. He has also been stripping the air pipes on the brake frame of old paint, identifying where they are severed and where sections are missing altogether. Dom continued the work of Sofy and Carl Looker from last time out, sanding down the bodyside and roof interior by the brake frame before applying red oxide primer and top coat to the areas in question.
